Bill's PurpleCrayon Blog
Bill's PurpleCrayon Blog features riffs galore about advertising, marketing, the Arts and just about anything else that happens to be on my mind at the moment.

It's official. As reported in today's Grand Rapids Press, I've joined the staff at Community Circle Theatre, one of Grand Rapids' premiere Arts organizations. I'm their new Marketing Director.
Eric Messing, who filled the position for two years before me, just left to pursue his Master's degree in Fine Arts at Wayne State University's Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company. Eric left some mighty big shoes to fill, not only at Circle but in Grand Rapids' entertainment community as well. Watch for Eric to become one of the stage's most prolific and respected director/producer/actors. He's that good.
When I relaunched PurpleCrayon Direct last year as an agency that worked exclusively with Artists, I was thinking of two things: (1) the nearly palpable electricity I feel in the air when I stroll through downtown Chicago, and (2) my desire to work with passionate people who make their living in the Arts.
In other words, I wanted PurpleCrayon to capture the magic of Chicago right here in Grand Rapids.
So what better way to accomplish that than by serving as Marketing Director for the legendary Circle Theatre?
I'm looking forward to working with everyone at Circle. The staff is amazingly talented, their productions are extraordinary, and the facility (Aquinas College Performing Arts Center) is the finest in Grand Rapids. I have a lot of fun ideas to try, including a few changes I'd like to make to the Circle web site.
In addition to my work at Circle, I'll be teaching two classes at Grand Valley State University this fall: CAP 311 (Direct Advertising) on Monday nights and COM 101 (Theory of Communications) on Thursday nights. Both out on the Allendale campus.
Plus, PurpleCrayon will still be around. I'll still post in Bill's Blog and I'll still work with a few select clients.
Needless to say, I'll be busy. But I'll be lovin' every minute of it.
Feel free to stop by the Circle office to say Hi. Our office is downtown in the Waters Building for now. In October, we move to the heart of the Aquinas College campus in a former winery. The grounds are gorgeous and the office promises to be absolutely killer.
Watch for next year's Circle productions. We're in the process of selecting them now...and, believe me, they're going to be remarkable.
As always, Keep Purple!
