SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES

Now's the time. This is the month. If you've never read Ray Bradbury's incomprable novel Something Wicked This Way Comes, go to the nearest library or bookstore and get your hands on a copy -- today.

The story takes place in October in Green Town, Illinois during the middle of last century (1940s or 1950s, I'm guessing) and it's about two 13-year-old boys, Will Holloway and Jim Nightshade, who investigate a spooky carnival called Cooger & Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show that pulls into their town at midnight.

No writer captures the sights, sounds, smells, fears and joys of being a curious teenager the way Bradbury does. Something Wicked This Way Comes crackles with life. It's mesmerizing. Each page contains gems that sparkle from the page, cleverly crafted prose that amazes and delights.

And the story is scary. Terrifying, even.

I highly recommend Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Read it by candlelight one of these dark October evenings.

I dare ya.

Keep Purple!
